The Power of Greek Life; WCU Homecoming 2022

There is no doubt that there is something special about people coming together–a community. It is easy to forget the power that Greek Life can have on an individual, resulting in a lifelong connection with peers and fellow alumni. Look at it this way: Greek Life organizations are evolutionary organisms.

We could compare this idea to our bodies: for a whole entire organism to properly functionally, it needs the interdependent parts to operate–like a heart or another organ. It is a whole (Greek Life) with interdependent (individuals involved) parts that makes this process possible.

These interdependent parts previously mentioned start with the students who decide to join Greek Life. Students do a lot when being involved with Greek Life organizations. From volunteering to chapter events, students are constantly expanding their professional careers. Trying new things and being introduced to different ways of life provide students an opportunity to create fellowships and strengthen their community

Organizations as such provide the never-ending cycle of growing, learning, sharing, networking, and personal growth. Students who are involved in chapters also have the chance to gain knowledge from specific alumni. Alumni are powerful and carry a lot of expertise, as Look at it this way–Greek Life organizations are evolutionary organisms. Students who are involved in chapters also have the chance to gain knowledge from specific alumni. Alumni are powerful and carry a lot of expertise, as they too were once students themselves. Students in Greek Life can approach associated alumni for internship or career opportunities and advice.

One of the best times for Greek Life students and alumni to associate is during homecoming. Attending homecoming–specifically the tailgate–reminds both students and alumni numerous things:

For the alumni…

Homecoming is a beautiful way of reminding alumni: Where they came from; How far they have come; The “future” (seeing and understanding the current student-members).

For the students…

Homecoming is a beautiful way of reminding students: Their school spirit; How lucky they are to be involved in such an organization that provides a community along with networking and professional opportunities, etc.
