Young Thug and Gunna Face RICO Charges

Rappers Young thug and Gunna were arrested under an 88-page indictment that named 28 members of YSL . These high-profile arrests mark a rising trend in the criminalization of hip-hop artists under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization, (RICO) Act. The RICO law was originally created to criminalize organized crime like the mafia.

The arrest sparks questions to lawmakers, law enforcement officials, and policy makers who could use hip-hop lyrics to connect criminal activity. This is not a new problem, actually this has been a the debate since 1980s explicit lyrics sparked controversy.
